The Movement

Women like looking good. Fashion and beauty has become such a big part of the lives of many young women. We want the latest and hottest bag, shoes, and designer clothes. We spend insurmountable amounts of money every week getting our nails and toes manicured, our eyebrows waxed, and our hair done. Let's face it! Women care how they look.
Personally I believe that all women should look presentable at all times. I can remember my mother fussing at me as a young girl. "Don't you ever go out of this house without your hair combed." "You should look neat at all times." Over time I have seen that a lot of young women's mothers told them the same thing! There is nothing wrong with taking care of yourself, nor having pride in how you look.
However, this last year has shown that women have become obsessive compulsive with the way they look. Women go out of their way to "keep up appearances". All you see on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are photos of shoes, photos of handbags, photos of Michael Kors watches, photos of makeup... the list goes on and on. To top that off, if a woman doesn't meet what is "good and acceptable" in the sight of the general public, they are belittled and made fun of for not being fashion-forward. This brings me to the scripture in "The Vision".
1 Timothy 2: 9-10 tells us that everything I mention in the previous paragraphs don't even matter if your heart isn't right. What you look like does not determine your status in the kingdom. Instead, what you do and if you live a life that is "good and acceptable" in the eyes of God is what really matters.
So let's do a heart check. Girl, you look good with your bad self! But when is the last time you prayed? Have you read and studied the word of God lately? If Jesus returned today, would your heart be right enough to go with him, or would you be "left behind" with your Gucci bag, Louboutin shoes and freshly manicured nails?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with looking your best. It is definitely a blessing to be able to afford the nicer things in life. Women should be presentable and beautiful at all times. Aside from that though, just be sure that your heart and spirit are just as presentable and beautiful as your outer appearance.

Til the next time, Pretty Girls... xoxo
